South’s Seven-Year Anniversary Party was a Smash!

Savannah’s who’s-who stepped out in style on Saturday for South magazine’s Seventh Anniversary party at Savannah Station. Gangsters, flappers, art deco beauties and other Golden Age Twenties rascals came out to celebrate seven years with the South crew. Community leaders and business owners mingled with local artists and wedding industry professionals throughout the evening, which was emceed by Michael Jordan. Savannah Arts Academy dancers did the Charleston to the tunes of the Academy’s Skyelite jazz band, which had guests tapping their toes all night. Old Savannah Tours’ Johnny Mercer made an appearance, and dancers from Salon de Baile also entertained attendees with several performances featuring a variety of dances.

13th Annual Musical Salute To MLK

The Jewish Educational Alliance will be host to the Thirteenth Annual, “A Musical Salute to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.” on Tuesday, January 11th at 7:00 P.M. at the Jewish Educational Alliance. The  event will feature the Savannah Jazz Orchestra and The Savannah Arts Academy Skyelite Jazz Band. The Savannah Jazz Orchestra is comprised of the areas best musicians and has backed some of the biggest names in jazz, including:  Benny Golson, Jimmy Heath, Diane Schuur, Clark Terry and Bobby Watson. Portman’s Music Superstore, Hands On Savannah and MorningStar Cultural Arts are the event’s sponsors.

The event is open to the public.
