Memorial Kids’ Classic Golf Tournament

This annual event benefits The Children’s Hospital at Memorial University Medical Center. Teams of four are $600. Sponsorship level opportunities are still available. Tee times are 7:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. with a complimentary lunch before or after you play. Beverages are provided. The format is a four person scramble with handicap. Today in Georgia History Launch Party

On Wednesday, September 7th, The Georgia Historical Society and Georgia Public Broadcasting celebrated the launch of Today in Georgia history, an exciting educational collaboration that promises to make history come alive with television, radio and online segments that focus on historical events or people associated with a particular day in Georgia history.

The celebration included previews of select segments of the television program, as well as a presentation from GHS Senior Historian and host of Today in Georgia History, Dr. Stan Deaton.

Hurricane Preparation Beyond the Bottled Water

Hurricane season is upon us once again, and this one came out swinging. With Irene charging toward the East Coast, talk of hurricane preparedness is everywhere. According to the latest models, the Savannah Area is out of Irene’s projected path, and all we should see is some heavy rainfall throughout the weekend. When faced with the possibility of a hurricane, we hear the same sage advice from our local news networks. Filling up our vehicles with gas, buying an ample supply of bottled water and non-perishable foods, and locating and protecting important family documents are all great ideas, and are imperative to riding out the storm. After the basic survival precautions are taken, there are several other ways to protect yourself during the storm, whether or not you choose to evacuate.
