On September 9th, 2011, The Savannah Sewing Academy and Foxy Loxy Print Gallery celebrated their grand openings with a ribbon cutting ceremony.

For a pair of local attendees at Friday’s Taste of Savannah, the annual celebration is particularly meaningful, and not just for the luxurious culinary offerings, the sublime Indian summer weather and the thrill of watching Savannah’s finest chefs compete for local bragging rights.

This annual event benefits The Children’s Hospital at Memorial University Medical Center. Teams of four are $600. Sponsorship level opportunities are still available. Tee times are 7:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. with a complimentary lunch before or after you play. Beverages are provided. The format is a four person scramble with handicap. Savannah is gearing up for Fashion’s Night Out! We’re buzzing with excitement, and can’t wait to see all the beautiful fashion tonight. We have a few updates to the schedule, and an official map of the event.

On Wednesday, September 7th, The Georgia Historical Society and Georgia Public Broadcasting celebrated the launch of Today in Georgia history, an exciting educational collaboration that promises to make history come alive with television, radio and online segments that focus on historical events or people associated with a particular day in Georgia history.

The celebration included previews of select segments of the television program, as well as a presentation from GHS Senior Historian and host of Today in Georgia History, Dr. Stan Deaton.

Are you planning your special day? This Sunday, August 28th, The Richmond Hill City Center will be transformed into a bridal showcase. The Elegance in the Park bridal show will feature a panoply of event profesionals with specialties in photography, music, dance instruction, flowers, and rental services for furniture, features and equipment.

Hurricane season is upon us once again, and this one came out swinging. With Irene charging toward the East Coast, talk of hurricane preparedness is everywhere. According to the latest models, the Savannah Area is out of Irene’s projected path, and all we should see is some heavy rainfall throughout the weekend. When faced with the possibility of a hurricane, we hear the same sage advice from our local news networks. Filling up our vehicles with gas, buying an ample supply of bottled water and non-perishable foods, and locating and protecting important family documents are all great ideas, and are imperative to riding out the storm. After the basic survival precautions are taken, there are several other ways to protect yourself during the storm, whether or not you choose to evacuate.

Patrons gathered last Sunday at the Tybee Wedding Chapel to immerse themselves in the soulful musical styles of Haviland Stillwell and Steven Jamail. Both are seasoned musicians and performers with years of experience under their belts, including performing on Broadway. You may remember Stillwell from our Anniversary Issue.
