Savannah Craft Brew Fest 2012 Preview

The annual craft brew fest is back and bigger than ever. The format has changed this year with the International Tasting being moved to Friday, the Grand Tasting still taking center stage on Saturday, and the new Rhythm and Brews concert being added to Sunday with North Mississippi Allstars, Sister Hazel, The Heavy Pets, Stokeswood, and Jason D. Williams. I like this change and think that it will make for an even better turnout and flow of events.

Operation Never Forget Arrives in Savannah

The Hyatt Regency Savannah will host the 911 Memorial Flag from August 31 until September 7 during the 2012 Supreme Emblem Club US Annual Convention. The flag will be on display in the Hyatt lobby and will open with a ceremony at 12:30 on Friday, August 31 that is open to the public.

The 22-foot by 32-foot flag is comprised of over 2,983 miniature 4-inch x 6-inch American flags representing each victim from the World Trade Center, Pentagon and Flight 93, which have been sewn into one large Memorial Flag. The project also contains flags representing the service organizations that participated in the recovery and rescue efforts, and the nations they represented. It took more than five months for 500 volunteers from New Jersey and Pennsylvania to complete the flag.

“It is a great honor to be able to fly the Memorial Flag at Hyatt Regency Savannah, as we want to pay tribute to all those that lost their lives during the 911 attacks,” said Scott Snipes, General Manager.

More than six million people have viewed the flag as it has traveled to more than 75 sites across the United States, Canada and Iraq. Savannah is the last public stop for the flag before traveling on to its final resting place at the 911 Memorial Museum, scheduled for display in 2013.
