Tiny Tots Consignment Sale

The Tiny Tots Consignment Sale will be held Friday and Saturday, September 23 & 24 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday and 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday at St. Michael’s Episcopal Church on the corner of Washington and Waters Avenues across from Daffin Park.

There is no admission, and the sale is open to the public. A portion of proceeds benefits the Savannah Children’s Choir.

Shoppers will find very gently used trunk-show and designer name brand boys and girls clothing in sizes 0-8, as well as shoes, equipment and toys, all at consignment store prices.

Savannah Children’s Choir: Summer Choral Camp

The Savannah Children’s Choir will hold their annual Summer Choral Camp July 18-29, 2011 on the campus of Calvary Day School.

Instructors are drawn from top universities in the region, and all are earning either on their master or doctorate degrees in music education or related fields.

“We’re thrilled to have a dynamic group of educators this year. The kids will be having so much fun, they may not notice how thoroughly they’re learning solid musical skills like theory, history and music reading,” comments Emmy Williams, SCC Director of Education.

Leoci’s Pizza Camp

If you’re like me, the act of cooking falls somewhere between a science and an art. While partly based on intuition and instinct, it also requires a certain proficiency and practice. Chef Roberto Leoci, of Leoci’s Trattoria, is a master at balancing both sides of cooking and knows how to turn a meal into an culinary experience. On Sunday, April 17th, he opened a side of his restaurant that you’ve never seen before. The chef hosted a Pizza Camp to demonstrate how to make one of his signature creations.

5th Anniversary Artists in Residence Program and Gala Concert

Helping celebrate the Savannah Children’s Choir’s 5th anniversary will be returning Artists in Residence Metropolitan Opera bass/baritone Keith Miller and Memphis Opera mezzo-soprano Rachel Waiters. The Choir will also welcome Darion Clonts, tenor, from Moorehouse College, and MusicAlive! as ensemble in residence.

In addition to providing 24 direct services to local public schools in the form of lectures, recitals or Master Classes, the Artists in Residence will join the Savannah Children’s Choir and the Savannah Arts Academy Chorus and Orchestra in a gala performance Tuesday, March 22 at 7 p.m. at the Lucas Theater. The concert is supported by Brasseler and International Paper.

The performance will feature solos and arias from the Artists in Residence, as well as selections from Rutter’s Mass of the Children. The main feature will be the world premier of a newly commissioned work titled Songs of Creation by composer Eric Jones. The work, based on the poetry of African-American poet James Weldon Johnson, will be performed by the Artists, SCC and SAA Chorus and Orchestra.

Savannah Children’s Choir to Honor Local Heroes

On Saturday, March 5 from 6-8 p.m. the Savannah Children’s Choir will honor Jim & Dottie Kluttz and Dr. Felix Maher with their annual One Small Voice award in a ceremony held at JCB in Pooler.

Sponsored by JCB, Hunter MacLean, and former One Small Voice award winners Alice Jepson and Mary Morrison, the annual award ceremony and concert honors unsung heroes in our community who have made a difference in the lives of children.

This year’s honorees include Jim & Dottie Kluttz, for their work developing a grant program members of the Savannah Children’s Choir, as well as their work with Hospice Savannah and with historic preservation projects on Tybee Island, and Dr. Felix Maher, DMD for setting up a dental clinic for low-income children who might not otherwise have access to preventative dental services.

The program includes an award ceremony and a concert by the Savannah Children’s Choir, followed by a cocktail reception.

Savannah Children’s Choir to hold Spaghetti Supper

The Savannah Children’s Choir will host a Spaghetti Supper at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church.

Dine in or take out a delicious meal for only $7.  Diners will enjoy pasta, choice or meat or vegetarian sauce, salad and bread.  Drinks and fresh baked goods will also be for sale.
The Spaghetti Supper, put on by the families of the Savannah Children’s Choir, raises funds for the Choir’s Spring 2011 Miracle Tour, where they will tour and perform at three Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals in Georgia and Florida.

Mangia Monday at Leoci’s

Leoci’s Trattoria will host Mangia Monday in honor of the Savannah Children’s Choir. With a $20 entry fee, guests will experience complimentary hors d’oeuvres and a free glass of wine. All proceeds from the event go entirely to benefit the Savannah Children’s Choir.

In addition to food and fun, the SCC’s Consort will perform. This particular group is the 12 member honor ensemble and is available for holiday parties and corporate events.
