The much-anticipated SCAD New Alumni Festival announces its 2010 concert lineup, featuring acclaimed bands Crash Kings, Galactic and G Love & Special Sauce. The May 28 concert in Forsyth Park, honoring the new alumni and their achievements at SCAD, will feature an eclectic blend of gritty, bluesy indie music. Crash Kings will kick off the show at 6 p.m. Next up, at 7:30 p.m., will be New Orleans-based Galactic. At 9 p.m., the alternative hip-hop band from Philadelphia, G. Love & Special Sauce, will close the night. DJ Omar will keep the crowd lively between performances. Additionally, Galactic will perform at SCAD Atlanta on May 27.
Transportation will be provided for students only from the Savannah Civic Center to Forsyth Park, beginning at 4 p.m. and running until

The Spring 2010 edition of the Savannah Record Fair is scheduled for Saturday, April 10 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at SCAD’s River Club. Dealers from around the Southeast will offer vinyl records, CDs, DVDs and music memorabilia. Admission is free and open to the public. The larger venue means more room for record dealers and shoppers.
Following the record fair, River Club will be readied for a live performance by Athens band Nana Grizol. Doors open at 8 p.m. The show is free with SCAD ID and $5 for the general public.
