Get down and dirty with over 20 challenges and a ton of mud to run and roll in at the Big Nasty Mud Run X3 April 6. FCA Endurance hosts the 4.1-mile run as a way to bring people together for a great time.

Nearly 2000 wild-eyed participants turned out for the JCB Mud Run on Saturday for what was one of 2012’s greatest events. Close to five miles of mud, trenches, ditches and ponds made up the landscape that would be the course for these runners. Beat down, exhausted and muddy from head to toe, most crawled to the showers and then headed to South Magazine’s after-party to take in some grub from Liveoak Restaurant Group and listened to tunes from the Train Wrecks. Savannah Distributing was on hand to ensure that the celebration had a nice edge to it and by noon most had hobbled home with a muddy smile.

Over one thousand athletes splashed through mud, surmounted obstacle course challenges, and ran through four miles of wilderness trails during the Fellowship of Christian Athlete’s Big Nasty Mud Run in Bloomingdale today. Colorful groups of racers dressed in costumes, including tutus, cascaded over the dirt hills and into the mud bog below. Most were tentative as they immersed themselves in the chilly morning water, but by the time they had crossed to the other side, they emerged with a newfound confidence. Hand-in-hand, teammates pressed through the muddy waters, urging one another on, acting like a communal cheerleading squad. Near the end of the grueling course, mud-covered racers were faced with the challenge of mounting a wooden incline with a rope. Teammates and rivals alike pushed and pulled one another over the hurdle while spectators cheered on the contestants from the sidelines. Event Director Steve White was pleased with the big turn-out and overall success of the event. FCA Endurance’s primary goal is to serve the community and every individual by creating an understanding of each person’s importance. They plan to host another mud run this fall.
