First Saturday Fundraiser

On February 5, Live Wire Music Hall will be hosting a fundraiser to benefit the family of Asher Luke Mullis. Asher was born with a congenital heart defect that requires open heart surgery. On January 11, 2011 at just 3 months old Asher underwent this surgery. Asher is on the road to recovery, however he and the Mullis family have a long and expensive journey ahead. The Mullis family is strong and we are confident that Asher will have a full recovery, but this journey will be quite expensive. Throughout January Live Wire Music Hall has been accepting donations for the Mullis family. We hope to continue raising money by holding a week long fundraiser culminating in a day long concert on February 5th.

Daily Blog: RJD2

RJD2+703fantasticElasticIt’s not common that a large act plays in a small venue, especially in Savannah. However, 2010 is looking up! This Tuesday, January 12th, legendary underground electronica artist RJD2 is playing downtown at Live Wire Music Hall. RJ, as he refers to himself, hails from Philly and has made a name for himself remixing popular hip-hop songs.

Unlike the majority of today’s DJs, RJ strays from the simple track mash-ups and creates beats entirely unique and signature to his style. So if you want to experience a performance on the cutting edge of today’s music industry, check out RJD2 at Live Wire on Tuesday night at 10pm.

Move to the Music: LiveWire Music Hall

livewire1You may not have heard of this music hall, but if you’ve walked down River Street on a weekend evening, chances are you’ve heard them. LiveWire Music Hall features three bars, each with their own feel. The main bar features big-name and local acts, while the side bar is geared towards being able to have a conversation about what you just heard. Upstairs features a more intimate stage and artwork by local artist and photographer Jon Horey. Located at 307 West River Street, they are a great addition to your Saturday evening bar crawl along the River, or a destination point for great music. They feature live music every night of the week, from both local and national acts.
They have featured some big national acts, and I really hope that trend continues. Thursday night Rev. Peyton’s Big Damn Band played, which I unfortunately missed due to a nasty cold that wants to stick around as long as possible. I hope they’ll be able to get similar acts in the future. Their stage setup is state-of-the-art, and that will go a long way in attracting good acts.
