Start this Labor Day holiday weekend off with a Pop! Boom! Bang as Wet Willie’s First Friday Fireworks fill the night sky at 9:30pm on September 2nd followed by two days of arts, crafts, food, drink and entertainment!

This Saturday, August 27, Old Fort Jackson is having a low country boil and silent auction with free general admission. Delicious food, drinks and adult beverages, with live music courtesy of the Savannah Stompers. Cap the night off with fireworks, historic cannon firings, and have a blast supporting Old Fort Jackson! Unique auction items will be featured from nearly 100 of Savannah’s favorite retailers, creative artists and Old Fort Jackson supporters.

Fireworks will be launched from the Tybee Pier at the stroke of midnight to celebrate the New Year.  Numerous restaurants and night spots on Tybee will have live music, parties and more.  Go watch as others plunge themselves into the rather cold and invigorating waters of Tybee’s January waters, or, take the plunge yourself.

Have you ever wished for an extra day in the week? Eight days would give us the opportunity to have an official three-day weekend, have an extra day in the workweek or even have a break somewhere in the middle. Since the days of the week are inspired by famous Greek Gods, we could throw in a “Hadsday,” to mention the Greek God Hades and replace Monday, because we all know what Mondays tend to bring. Or, we could have “Dionsday” between Friday and Saturday to mention the Greek God Dionysus, who is the God of wine, parties and festivals. It’s such a great fantasy to have. But while there is no week-lengthening fairy, we can get an early start to our weekends by honoring Thursday as part of the weekend, especially this weekend.
