A warm Saturday Savannah afternoon provided a lovely backdrop to the 5th Annual Tubby’s Tankhouse Yuletide Jam. The celebration started and Noon and continued until 2am. Featuring 13 bands on two stages, the crowd was treated to music for a full 14 hours of folk, country, rock and holiday sounds. The presence of Santa and his helpers added to the festive holiday cheer of the event. Children were entertained by photos with Santa, a bouncy castle and plenty of family friendly activities in the Kids Zone.

Tubby’s Tankhouse in Thunderbolt treated guests to many of the delicious items served on their menu throughout the event, including appetizers of chicken fingers, shrimp and a plentiful Low-Country boil. A silent auction was he held to benefit Second Harvest of Coastal Georgia, , which will receive all proceeds from the auction. This fundraiser was in honor of Patrick Ansley Williams, a talented local businessman, passionate musician, loving husband and dear friend, who passed away from cancer in 2011. Auction items gathered bids for items including a one night stay at the Historic River Inn, a Donna Rowel original working lighthouse piece, a 3-liter bottle of Hess Chardonnay, gift certificate to J. Paige Boutique, a Budweiser wood finished cabinet dart board and more.

As the sun went down the crowd kept coming and the bands kept playing. The indie/alternative rock band von Grey of four sisters ages 12 to 17 dazzled the crowd with the rich full original sound which includes a cello, mandolin and lap steel guitar. Ross Etheridge made his way to the Red Carpet before his band Two Path Road hit the main stage. Members of Wormsloew and Turtle Folk followed suit by gracing the Red Carpet and enjoying the crowd, festivities and music. TV’s Mark Silver of Big Break was among the attendees checking out some of Savannah’s finest bands and food. A great time was had by all who came to party at Tubby’s for a worthy cause.

Finally a run on Hilton Head Island that showcases its natural beauty! Runners will race through the Sea Pines Forest Preserve on hard packed dirt trails – shaded under old live oak trees, around beautiful lakes full of wildlife, and over age old wetlands. This is THE most scenic and exciting running event on Hilton Head Island.

The course is flat and fast. Almost all on hard packed dirt trails. Standard award categories will be recognized.

JCB, to most of us, is that big factory you see off I-95 in Pooler that makes large, earth-moving machines. It has been much more than that to the Savannah community and surrounding areas. They opened their factory in Pooler in 2000 with the prospect of bringing new employment for many people in the area. Since then, they have not only changed peoples’ lives by offering them employment opportunities but they have changed lives through their community involvement. This Saturday, JCB will be hosting the JCB 5k Charity Run on its site in Pooler.

Savannah Walk to End Alzheimer’s Team Captain Meeting will be held on Tuesday, June 14th at 5:30 pm at Local 11 Ten Restaurant, 1110 Bull Street. Anyone who has a passion to end Alzheimer’s disease will be welcome.

Today marks the start of the Ferrari Club of America 2011 International Meet at The Westin Savannah Harbor Resort & Spa on Hutchinson Island. This is a 5-day event that will showcase some of the nicest Ferraris in the world. Each day there will be events lined up so that spectators can see firsthand the cars of the club members. It’s not just about watching the cars shine as you walk by them, there will be races held on the old Hutchinson Island F1 race track. The event is open to the public for two days, Friday June 10th and Saturday June 11th. You will be able to attend the races, the car shows, and purchase merchandise at the meet.

The Baccha Bash this Friday, June 10th, is a fun way to give back to the Savannah community. This event is being hosted by Paint the Town Red and the Savannah chapter of the American Red Cross. Paint the Town Red is a group of local young professionals who try to make a difference in Savannah and the surrounding counties by providing information on the Red Cross’ work and projects in the area. They also serve as a foundation for fundraising and meeting other professionals through the social events that they host. The Baccha Bash Friday night will be held at ThincSavannah which is located at 35 Barnard Street in Suite 300, above Ellis Square. All of the proceeds will be going towards supporting disaster relief efforts of the American Red Cross chapter in Savannah.
