Broughton Street Holiday Open House


Holiday cheer rang out along Broughton Street during their fourth annual Holiday Open House on December 8th. Savannah Philharmonic Chorus members led by Artistic Director and Conductor Peter Shannon gave holiday shoppers cause to pause as they strolled along Broughton Street filling the night air with the beautiful harmonies of traditional Christmas carols. Store owners extended their hours, offering complimentary hors d’oeuvres and drinks to shoppers as they browsed through a wonderland of elegantly and uniquely decorated stores and windows.

Fashion’s Night Out Savannah 2011

Fashion’s Night Out is upon us and we have created a tentative event schedule, map, and route for shoppers to maximize on all areas of the downtown district and their shopping needs for this one night event. Tomorrow at 6 PM, Broughton will be open only to pedestrian traffic as it fills with fashion shows, events, and fun for a one night event.

PETA visits Savannah

Complete with painted-on diagrams referencing different cuts of meat, two scantily clad girls used their bodies to attract attention to their anti-meat message today in downtown Savannah during lunch hour. Representing the infamous PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) group, the two girls and an older woman, who was handing out a vegan recipe guide, visited Savannah as part of a roaming campaign against the inhumane treatment of animals.

Fashion’s Night Out

Monday July 18, 2011 marked the beginning of what will become one of Savannah’s most sought after events, Fashion’s Night Out 2011. Fab’rik, located at 318 W. Broughton street, welcomed Mayor Otis Johnson for the announcement of Fashion’s Night Out Savannah.

Spice and Tea Exchange Grand Opening

The Spice & Tea Exchange had their grand opening with a ribbon cutting ceremony featuring Mayor Otis Johnson and free product tastings. There were daily gift certificate raffles and daily drawings with a unique dinner held on July 8th to celebrate their grand opening at 14 West Broughton Street. All of the foods featured at the two day grand opening were prepared by Chef Dan Lopez. Chef Lopez, who has over 15 years of culinary experience, has cooked at many top notch restaurants, has served United Nations delegates and was even the executive chef for the 2008 Summer Olympics in Bejing, China.

SCAD International Festival

On April 2nd, the Savannah College of Art and Design hosted the 13th annual International Festival Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Festival features traditional music, dance, art and food to celebrate the diversity of SCAD’s international arts community. Among the festival highlights were performances by Grupo Kachimbos de Savannah, Mystik NRG, and DJ Omar Richardson. Visitors also had a chance to taste cuisine from around the world.
