If you love dogs and truly consider them man’s best friend then head to the first annual Savannah Bark-B-Que hosted by the Westin Savannah Harbor Resort this Saturday, June 18th. It’s a fundraiser to raise money to build a new low-cost spay and neuter clinic for Savannah’s burgeoning pet overpopulation. Oliver Bentley’s Barking Bakery, along with the Westin Savannah Harbor Resort, will be hosting the event.

The Georgia Southern Football staff, Bubba Hunt and Shane’s Rib Shack of Savannah is hosting a BBQ plate fundraiser for the American Diabetes Association with GSU Football Staff, including Coach Monken. The Coffee Bluff Marine Rescue Squadron will be holding its annual Barbecue Dinner Fundraiser on Saturday, April 2, 2011 at the Squadron’s Coffee Bluff facility located at the end of White Bluff Road on the Forrest River. The barbecue will take place between 10:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. This popular event sells over 3,000 dinners and requires cooking 3,400 pounds of pork! Dinners will cost $7.00 each and include Barbecue, cole slaw, Brunswick Stew and a roll.

The other day I got into my head that I hadn’t tasted pulled pork sandwiches in awhile. So, without having absolutely anything to do, I set out to find a recipe I could comfortably make without any hassle…I was a bit lazy that day.

What I found is that you can make it in your oven, which is easy, and that basically the only thing you have to do, is mix a couple of herbs and spices with salt and pepper, and that you rub it on the outside of the pork before cooking it. So here again are some pointers so that you find it as easy as I did to make your own pulled pork.

Celebrating 59 years, this once a year event has grown into a legendary day of serving some of the best BBQ in the area including hams, Boston Butts, ribs, chopped ham, potato salad, apples and more. The all day event also includes entertainment, fellowship and a chance to do some holiday shopping with the bazaar. The bazaar includes handmade items for sale and a silent auction consisting of donated items from merchants and individuals in Richomond Hill and the surrounding area.
