Macon’s reputation as a film location is growing with the addition of this exciting project. This spring, Macon, GA, will play a key role as a location to the upcoming action movie “Need for Speed.” Based on the popular video games, this film will be fraught with high-octane thrills and racing action. Director Scott Waugh, who also directed 2012’s “Act of Valor,” will be working on this DreamWorks Studios film. The movie will star Aaron Paul, Dominic Cooper, Imogen Poots and Michael Keaton.

Dawn’s Daughter: Everything a Woman Needs to Know is Dawn’s way of sharing advice about everything from self-esteem to relationships and encouraging young women to be strong, independent and accomplished.

On Sunday, April 28, Friends of Coastal Gardens will host the 19th Annual Sunday Supper in the Strawberry Patch at the Historic Bamboo Farm. The public is invited to attend the annual fundraising event, which features dinner in the strawberry patch with fresh strawberry shortcake for dessert, garden tours, a silent auction and door prizes. All of the proceeds will go toward the Friends of Coastal Garden’s mission to support the Coastal Georgia Botanical Gardens and Historic Bamboo Farm. The tour of the garden will begin at 4 p.m. and supper is served from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Reservations by April 25 are encouraged to ensure your table! A $25 donation is required per person.
