Junkyard Angel to Record at Skyville Studios; CD Pre-Release Party Held to Benefit
The laid-back, sleepy-treed atmosphere of Paxton Park on the Isle of Hope provided the perfect backdrop for the CD pre-release party of Savannah favorites Junkyard Angel on Saturday, January 8, largely thanks to the cooperation of Mother Nature (temps were in the high 70s, and sunny) and an impressive local turnout of longtime supporters, friends, and family of the band. Presented by Cedar Hammock records, the down-home BBQ and beer bash was held to support the band’s efforts to record an upcoming CD at Skyville Studios in Nashville, Tennessee, home to acts such as Lady Antebellum, and whose team has produced hits by the Dixie Chicks, Martina McBride, Vince Gill and countless others.

Songs of the South
Before shows like “The Voice” and “American Idol” popularized singing competitions, Savannah had its very own vocal competition here at home. Savannah’s annual American Traditions competition celebrates its 20th birthday this year with its best event ever. According to past contestants, American Traditions is a positive and supportive environment for singers, which is very different from the cut-throat competitions we are used to seeing on television.
