Stars of the South
Most Southerners, as denizens of a region with possibly one of the most recognizable cuisines, happen to know a thing or two about food. But don’t judge a book by its butter-loving cover, because while no true soul food connoisseur could ever give up shrimp and grits or fried chicken, Southerners’ palates are in fact varied and embrace fruits, vegetables, beans and nuts—especially those grown from Georgia’s own soil.
But there’s much more to these locals’ deeply ingrained passion for food than the taste of peach cobbler or corn bread. Whether they’re growing, preparing or eating it, these soul food experts use their skills to fuel Southern culture, keep families happy and give back to the community. So here’s to the wonderful people that work hard to create one of the greatest pleasures in the South.
