Everyone wants a sneak peek at the face behind the mask, the brains behind the operation. Well, consider this issue the unmasking of the Faces of the South. It’s finally time to put a face with a name (one you might recognize from emails, headlines or good ol’ fashion word of mouth) or in some instances, a name with a face (possibly one you walk by every day). In it, you will find stories about the wizards that run Oz, the phantom who wrote the opera, the man behind the plan or the woman behind the man. Displayed throughout the magazine there are dozens of portraits of those people who fuel the city, the underground movers and shakers, the people who rarely surface to take credit for their contributions. They are modern-day Southerners, and they run the businesses, city organizations, educational entities and spiritual sanctuaries that keep Savannah on the map. But it’s also a celebration. It’s a thank you to and a thank goodness for those who care. A shout out to those who plant their roots in the South, grow with it and then shade it when the weather gets hot. They are all different and all contribute with their individual talents, and we love them for it!

Christi Ghaleb, M.D.
Family Medicine of Pooler
Dr. Ghaleb knew she’d found her calling in family medicine. After eight years of practicing in the area, she found the right home for that calling when she established Family Medicine of Pooler last October. The state-of-the-art facility welcomes patients from birth through their elder years with the belief that treating patients like one’s own family is the best way to practice medicine in a way that benefits both doctor and patient.
