Journey to the Beloved Community: Story Quilts by Beth Mount features quilts created by Beth Mount, a Georgia native living in New York City. Mount uses her textile skills in a creative format to build communication among the diverse groups of people with whom she works. Her life’s work is devoted to supporting people with disabilities in becoming valued members of the community and she uses quilts as a way to connect people and ideas, art and activism.

Savannah photographer Lyn Bonham has been photographing fine art portraits, family relationships and weddings for the past 25 years. She has been caputuring images of people involved in Savannah-Chatham Citizen Advocacy since 2000. This exhibit will feature a number of her striking black-and-white images of citizen advocacy relationships.

GALLERY 11 Plans Summer Reception: “Come See The New Three”

The twelve artists of Gallery 11 are proud to host a summer reception recognizing three acclaimed artists who recently found a new home at the gallery. Their work will add new dimension to this established group of fine artists.

Savannah’s award-winning print maker Grace Rohland will be welcomed along with Savannah College of Art and Design graduate student XI Guo, whose watercolors of Savannah’s Historic District are compelling. Inspirational artist and writer, Margaret Clay, who creates uplifting designs on her hand-painted silk scarves, rounds out the trio of new artists at Gallery 11.

The public is invited to attend the evening reception on Thursday, July 19, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the charming, second-floor City Market gallery, which is accessible by stairs or elevator.

The SCAD Museum of Art presents a solo exhibition by artist Iván Navarro. In “Heaven or Las Vegas,” Navarro has created a series of neon light wall sculptures based on the floor plans of 12 of the world’s best known skyscrapers, including the Jumeirah Emirates Towers in Dubai, Lotte World Tower in Busan, and the Twin Towers in New York.
