Deep, a local nonprofit organization that teaches free after-school writing workshops in Savannah public schools, will release 10 new books written by Savannah youth at Deep Speaks!
200 students from 19 Savannah public schools will perform their recently published poems and stories at the free, open-to-the-public event called Deep Speaks!
Each semester, Deep teaches weekly writing workshops at every middle school in the district, several K-8 and elementary schools, the Scott Alternative Learning Center, and the Boys and Girls Club (Frank Callen Unit). At the end of these 12-week workshops, each student’s best work is published in an anthology.
Deep Speaks! is the opportunity for Savannah’s youngest published authors to share their work with the public in a free, open forum. The event is a celebration of their hard work and success, and the books are available for purchase.
Deep Speaks! is free and open to all ages. Doors open at 6:00; readings at 6:30pm.
