The months of May and June will bring Mother’s Day (May 13, 2012) and Father’s Day (June 17, 2012) annual celebrations honoring parents all over the country and worldwide.
This year, the Forsyth Farmers’ Market will join the celebration by offering a healthy present suggestion for mom and dad.
During the next weeks, leading up to Mother’s and Father’s Day, the market organizers are offering a special gift subscription for the “Friends of the Forsyth Farmers’ Market” at $20.00, instead of the regular $25.00.
These two holidays are an opportunity to recognize Mom and Dad for all the nice things they have done over the years, and what better gift to show love and appreciation than to introduce them to a healthy way of cooking with some delicious, fresh options from the Forsyth Farmers’ Market.
“We hope that with this healthy idea a lot of our regulars will interest their parents in the market and fresh, local food idea, and resulting of this familiarize their parents or older relatives and friends with the locally grown healthy food options that are available in our region,” said Ben Baxter, Market Manager.
The “Friends of the Market” program includes an annual subscription to the weekly newsletter, vendor specials, exclusive recipes, lecture invites, cooking demonstrations and much more. In addition the subscribers receive a reusable Forsyth Farmers’ Market shopping tote.
To showcase the seasonal “goodies”, the market manager has created some easy recipes especially for upcoming Mother’s Day, which are easy to follow and shop for at the Forsyth Farmers’ Market.
Each week the vendors at Forsyth Farmers’ Market are offering a wide array of produce and goods from local sources. With new choices added every week, the market has become a one stop shopping for a large group of residents.
The Forsyth Farmers’ Market takes place each Saturday at the South End of Forsyth Park from
9 AM – 1 PM, rain or shine.
The Forsyth Farmers’ Market vendors offer a variety of local goods including seasonal produce, eggs, honey, pastured meat, bread, cheese, mushrooms, fresh herbs, vegetable sauces, preserves, coffee beans, heirloom seeds and potted plants.
