This workshop introduces participants to researching a historic property. The first part of the workshop is a brief lecture on the different sources for researching any historic building, including primary and secondary sources, and online and local archive materials available. A property in Savannah’s Historic Landmark District is used as an example to demonstrate the process of discovering the building date, history of use and structural changes. The second part of the workshop examines a few different locations in Savannah including the Georgia Historical Society and Bull Street Public Library’s Georgia Room. Participants will have the opportunity to research their property with help from the instructor and staff on site.
