In this transcendently powerful new adaptation by Wendy Kesselman, Anne Frank emerges from history a living, lyrical, intensely gifted young girl, who confronts her rapidly changing life and the increasing horror of her time with astonishing honesty, wit, and determination. Newly discovered writings from the diary of Anne Frank, as well as survivor accounts, are interwoven to create a contemporary impassioned story of the lives of people persecuted under Nazi rule, hiding in a concealed storage attic. The Diary of Anne Frank captures the claustrophobic realities of their daily existence–their fear, their hope, their laughter, their grief. Each day of these two dark years, Anne’s voice shines through: “When I write I shake off all my cares. But I want to achieve more than that. I want to be useful and bring enjoyment to all people, even those I’ve never met. I want to go on living even after my death.” This is an adaptation for a new generation able to confront the true horrors of the Holocaust.

Twelve performances are held at the Seaboard Freight Station Theatre, 703D Louisville Road (Liberty Street extension, just 1/4 mile west of the Savannah Visitors Center and the historic Roundhouse Railroad Museum, at the intersection of West Boundary Street). Evening show dates and times are Nov. 5, 6, 7, 12, 13, 14, 15, 19, 20 and 21 at 8 p.m. with matinees on Nov. 8 and 22 at 3 p.m.

Tickets are $22 general admission, $17 for seniors, military and students with valid ID, and $12 for children. Tickets are available at the door prior to performances or they may be purchased online at www.littletheatreofsavannah.org
