SCAD Sidewalk Arts Festival 2012

SCAD’s Sidewalk Arts Festival is a local tradition that has over the years gained recognition well beyond the boundaries of Savannah. Its 31st annual installment comes to Forsyth Park this Saturday, April 28th, with art gracing its surrounding sidewalks by artists of all disciplines.

The event itself runs from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m and features chalk-media work on Forsyth’s concrete canvases by SCAD students, alumni, and prospective students. Each piece is open to viewing by the public and will ultimately get judged as part of a competition for monetary prizes. There are additional children’s and youth areas for young artists, as well as music throughout the day. Food from local vendors and other products will be available for sale during the event.

The festival will be preceded by Films in Forsyth, featuring the family friendly films “The Goonies” at 8 p.m., Thursday, April 26, and “How to Train Your Dragon” at 8 p.m., Friday, April 27, on the big screen at Forsyth Park’s band shell. All events are free and open to the public.

We hope you’ll come out and join thousands in the celebration of this unique media of art and all the great work SCAD’s community has to offer!

SCAD Sidewalk Arts Festival takes place on April 28th from 11am-5pm in Forsyth Park.
