Picnic In The Park and Bark

October 7, 2012 Savannah’s Picnic in The Park

The welcome was warmer than the weather at Savannah’s Picnic In the Park. Parkers was one of the sponsors of this years blanket-booming event with the unified theme ‘Some Enchanted Evening’. The attendees’ interpretation of fantasy brought a fun whimsy to Forsythe Park! The many tents and blankets prepared thier fairytale picnics for the ‘Best Picnic’ judging. Their was a perpetually pink tent for ‘Princess with a Purpose’ and a Wizard of Oz tent complete with yellow brick road along with two of each of Dorothy’s travel companions.

The hospitality and creativity from we received from each picnic was nothing short of Southern hospitality at it’s finest. Everyone really put their best dish and picnic theme forward. Also notable was the Alice in Wonderland picnic (tea cups and cookies with clock frosting), Ali Baba and the Forty Theives, and Pappy’s picnic I simply call “Chilling out Southern Style”. Though it wasn’t exactly the ‘theme’ of the day, he did have a whole tent wall of photos from picnics past, many taken with or by SOUTH Magazine!

At once several costumed characters including Prince Charming, Cinderella, Jack Sparrow, Snow White, Robin Hood and several other favorites came through the Forsythe making it feel like a theme park. Picnic attendees, young and old, delighted in taking photos with their favorite fairytale characters.

Not to be outdone, the pet costume contest; sponsored by TailSpin and 98.7 The River, got the dogs to induldge in fantasy as one by one they paraded across the stage dressed as fairies and princessess.
