Dick Blick Art Materials Grand Opening Event
Written by Anthony Guza
Join Dick Blick Art Materials at its Grand Opening from September 13 to September 27, where everyone is invited to come in, have a look around, and say hello to some familiar faces from three blocks away. Blick recently acquired Primary Art Supply and is opening its new superstore at 318 East Broughton Street. The new store is estimated to be three times the size of Primary’s former location further west on Broughton Street at over 11,000 square feet, and will be just half a block from SCAD’s Jen Library.
In addition to Primary’s entire staff of employees, co-owners Amy Spurlock and Robyn Reeder have been retained to work with Blick in sales and marketing roles. They plan to continue their history of positive community and school involvement in the Savannah area. The hope is that the new location will also revitalize the East end of Broughton by acting as a retail anchor for the area, which has struggled to develop in recent years.
There are now 38 Blick Art Materials retail stores nationwide in 19 states, and the new Georgia location will provide Savannah’s artists with the largest selection of core art supplies in the area—from acetate and acrylic to yarns and yardsticks. The store is now open, and is featuring many deals as part of its national Fall Back-To-School Sale, which runs from August 2 to October 7. Their current hours are from 8 a.m.-8 p.m. during the week, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. on Saturday, and 11 a.m.-6 p.m. on Sunday. Be sure to visit during the Grand Opening to find out what great deals they have in store.
