Check Your PULSE

pulseThe Telfair Museum and the City of Savannah have teamed up to create what is quite possibly the coolest free event Savannah has ever seen- Pulse: Art and Technology Festival.  This 11-day event will explore the intersection of art and technology, featuring workshops, lectures, performances and installations from some of the brightest and most creative minds in the worlds of art, music, and technology.

Head to the Jepson Center to check out the high-tech installations, ranging from a musical wall sequencer that uses facial recognition software to allow participants to make music with their bodies, to a dream-like,  interactive environment filled with strange robotic entities.

The workshops cover a diverse range of topics, from inflatable sculpture, to game design, to sewing a light-up garment, to solar-powered robots, and with lectures on these topics and more, you are sure to find something to get your inner nerd all worked up.

Music fans will enjoy performances by L.E.M.U.R, Zemi 17 on the Gamelatron, and The Wiitles, or the screening of Copyright Criminals, a documentary about the hip hop roots of sampling and its transition into the mainstream. Fashion lovers, Project Runway fans and tech geeks alike will want to attend Diana Eng’s lecture on Thursday, the 28th, and on Friday, the 29th, festival goers will have the pleasure of viewing the latest collaboration between Savannah’s own Matt Hebermehl and DR. Z.  Check out some of their past work here.

Looking at the PULSE event schedule is a little overwhelming. There are so many amazing events, you’re going to want to go to all of them!
