Daily Blog: Black Christmas

blackXMASDoes all the talk of raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens grate on your already frazzled nerves this holiday season? Do the festively bedazzled sweaters make you die a little inside? If you are feeling a bit overwhelmed by all that is cute, sparkly, jingly, and oh-so-cheery, get thee to the Sentient Bean on December 23rd for the Psychotronic Film Society’s screening of Black Christmas.

This little-known cult classic was the first slasher flick to deliver the “madman terrorizing sorority girls” formula that has become so popular. While John Carpenter’s Halloween is usually considered the seminal work for this sub-genre, Black Christmas came out a full four years earlier.

Do not miss the rare opportunity to see this underappreciated gem on a big screen. You can catch rare films like this every Wednesday at the Sentient Bean, courtesy of the Psychotronic Film Society. They hunt down great independent and under-exposed films, as well as retro flicks so bad they’re good!

The quirky, laid-back atmosphere at the Bean is perfect for these events, and their delicious organic, fair-trade drinks and food make for a perfect evening. Be sure to arrive early, though, because seats will fill up quickly.

Tickets are $5. Seating at 7:30 pm, film at 8 pm. Christmas door prizes will be given away before the film! And remember, this film is for MATURE AUDIENCES ONLY. For more information call 912.232.4447 or visit http://www.sentientbean.com/events.
