The Savannah Mile

Where: Forsyth Park

Fleet Feet Sports and the 200 Club Club of the Coastal Empire host The Savannah Mile. Run in several heats including a family division and age groups, the course begins at the south end of Forsyth Park and finishes on Broughton street. A post-race party with food and an awards ceremony will take place in Johnson Square.

All proceeds benefit the 200 Club of the Coastal Empire, providing immediate financial assistance to the surviving spouse and children of local law enforcement officers who lose their lives in the line of duty while protecting our community.

Registration: $20 through May 23rd; $25 on race day.

William Jay Society Annual Owens-Thomas House Garden Party

Join Telfair Museums’ WJS for a tour of the home, as well as hors d’oeuvres and libations in the garden. The Owens-Thomas House is considered by architectural historians to be one of the finest examples of English Regency architecture in America. Admission is free for William Jay Society Members and $5 for Non-Members.

First Annual Blues, Jazz & BBQ Festival

Where: River Street
Deep southern blues, smooth jazz, and smokey BBQ will be served up all weekend long from May 31-June 2. Bring your appetite and get ready to pig out on some mouthwatering BBQ from Wet Willie’s, Bayou Café, Ma-Maw’s BBQ, Wiley’s Championship BBQ, Notch 8 BBQ, A&D Catering, and more!

Start your weekend off with a bang, as First Friday Fireworks presented by Wet Willie’s begin at 9:30pm! Rousakis Plaza will be full of artists, music, and fun for the entire family! Live Entertainment will take place on the Arbor Stage and feature nine groups of regional blues and jazz musicians!

May Festival in Calhoun Square
10 a.m.

The annual celebration of May Day will take place in Calhoun Square at 10 a.m. in front of the historic Massie School.
