The four course dinner will feature wines from a variety of Italian regions, paired with specialties like Braised Veal and Lamb. Diners will be entertained by Ricardo and Sasha from “Duo Gitano” with a musical performance and journey through “Bella Italia”.

The Georgia History Festival Georgia Day Paradeon Fri., Feb. 10, 2012, at 10:30 a.m., commemorates the anniversary of the founding of the Georgia colony in 1733. Organized by the Georgia Historical Society, this annual event brings students, musicians, local dignitaries and costumed historical characters out to march down Bull St. from Forsyth Park to City Hall, in a parade dedicated to all of Georgia’s history.

As part of the Georgia History Festival, elementary school classes compete to create an original banner on the subject of the 2012 Festival Honoree, Juliette Gordon Low. The banners are submitted prior to the parade and judged on creativity and neatness. At the end of the parade, trophies are awarded to three winning schools during a ceremony at City Hall.

The parade and ceremony are free and open to the public.

This event is made possible by the generous donation of Levy Jewelers and AT&T.

How it Works:Be your own team or put together a team of 1-4 people. Each team brings 3 bottles of the same wine. Upon arrival, two of your team’s bottles are opened, numbered, covered and set out to taste. The third bottle will be set aside for the wining stash. Taste, test and toast and everybody votes for their favorite wine. Winning teams will be announced at 8:30 P.M.

The Forsyth Farmers’ Market, which was created in 2009 with the goal of making fresh, healthy food easily accessible to the residents of Savannah and surrounding neighborhoods, will return for a fourth season on February 11, 2012.

Each Saturday from 9 AM – 1 PM, at the South End of Forsyth Park in Historic Downtown Savannah, a variety of vendors will offer their produce and products to residents and visitors alike.

After the incredibly successful 2011 season, the 2012 opening weekend in February will kickoff featuring a high percentage of returning, well-known market purveyors including Savannah River Farms, Joseph Fields Farm, Clark & Sons Farm, Walker Farms, Kachina Farm, Readee’s Bees, Castra Rota, Oaktree Farm, and Hunter Cattle Co.

Forsyth Farmers’ Market Manager Ben Baxter commented: “Everybody involved in the success of the market, co-founder Kristin Russell, community development coordinator Teri Schell, our advisory committee members, strong supporter Dale Critz, and all of the market volunteers will be working together to make the 2012 season the most outstanding since the market opened.”

To assist the future growth and expansion of the Market and its mission, the market organizers have begun an initiative to couple outreach with health education, designed to encourage Savannah’s community to “bring home” knowledge of nutritious food and exercise to promote health and well-being.

The” Bring it Home” project invites the Savannah community and visitors to learn, move and grow with the Forsyth Farmers’ Market. The first Bring it Home event of 2012 takes place on opening day, February 11th, with a theme of “Bike to the Market.” The first 25 people to check in with their bikes at the “Bring it Home” booth will receive $5 in market tokens and a healthy recipe, both sponsored by Healthy Savannah. In addition, Savannah Bicycle Campaign will be on hand with information and education about safe cycling.
