Celebrate Local Heroes at a Tribute to Community Stars
Join Savannah Technical College for their 7th year of acknowledging Savannah’s outstanding citizens.
On Friday, March 22 at 12:00 p.m., Savannah Technical College is hosting their 7th Tribute to Community Stars in the Eckburg Auditorium on STC’s campus. This event has been held every spring since 2007, and celebrates the achievements of men and women in the Savannah community. The event is an opportunity to thank and recognize individuals for the impact they have made on their city and its citizens. This year’s event will feature a silent auction with items that highlight services offered by STC programs.
Tickets for this event are $100 each. To purchase tickets or sponsor a STAR, call 912.443.3022 or email Gail Eubanks at geubanks@savannahtech.edu. The proceeds from ticket sales and donations will support the Savannah Technical College Foundation and their mission to develop Savannah’s workforce.

Moon River Brewing Company Opens Savannah’s Only Beer Garden
Friends, family and media members gathered on Friday night at Bay Street’s newest hot spot to grab a craft brew and a bite to eat, Moon River Brewing Company’s 5,400-square-foot Beer Garden. In the form of the traditional Friday evening 6 o’clock toast, owner Gene Beaco and brew master John Pinkerton stood on a make-shift podium to thank those who made opening the garden possible.
“Welcome to our regulars, welcome to our irregulars,” Beaco began. “If Bay Street is the smile of downtown, six months ago the smile was missing a tooth,” he said.

Prepare for St. Patrick’s Day early with the Savannah Jaycees, South magazine and B&D Burgers. Don your best green attire and celebrate for a cause on Thursday, March 7 at B&D Burgers in City Market from 7 – 9 p.m. The Savannah Jaycees young professional organization is teaming up with ESPN 104.3, Yuengling and B&D to host this fun membership drive. Ladies attending the event in green dresses will receive one free drink ticket, while gentlemen in green ties get a free drink ticket for their first Yuengling. After his or her free drink, all participants can enjoy half price beverages until 9 p.m. Prizes will be awarded to ladies wearing the best green dresses!

Support your Local 574 Firefighters and have a blast at this year’s St. Patrick’s Day Fire Ball.
Savannah Firefighter’s Local 574 is throwing this year’s St. Patrick’s Day Fire Ball on March 15 at the Charles Morris Center from 6 – 11 p.m. This semi-formal fundraiser is open to the public with ticket purchase. The Fire Ball benefits the Local 574 firefighters, and a percentage of the proceeds will also be donated to America’s Second Harvest of Coastal Georgia and the Muscular Dystrophy Association. This year’s event will feature an open top shelf bar and an all-you-can-eat Low Country Boil prepared by Savannah’s Firefighters. There will also be a silent auction and live entertainment from Savannah’s own Liquid Ginger.
