Beneficial Bar Hopping

Bar hop for a cause this Saturday, April 14, 4 p.m.-2 a.m. with Friends of Statts. The Statts Block Party is being held in honor of Jason Statts, a local musician, who was shot at point blank range through the neck on June 28, 2008, doing irreparable damage to his spinal column. Due to cuts in his government benefits, Statts’ friends and family have organized this fundraiser to help pay for the medical assistance he needs.

Venues include The Jinx, Congress St. Social Club, The Rail Pub, Hangfire, and Wild Wings Cafe in City Market. All access passes are available for $25, either in advance at the Jinx, or all day Saturday at each location. Single venue passes are available for $10 and $15 as well. Passes are cash only. Along with plenty of music, there will be silent auctions and raffles throughout the day.

Recent cuts in Statts’s medical benefits have only caused his health to further decline. In response to this, his family and friends have come together to organize a massive benefit “Block Party” to aid in a more speedy and proper recovery—a show of solidarity that has been dubbed Friends of Statts.

His lanky body is suffused by the soft glow, and the cedar quarters, hide rug, wood-burning furnace, and bed are illuminated in rustic charm.
